In Christ

What does it mean to be in someone else; either Adam or Christ? John Calvin wrote, "Adam did not die for himself alone, but for us all; it follows, that Christ in like manner, who is the antitype, did not rise for himself alone; for he came, that he might restore everything that had been ruined in Adam."

Have you ever thought about being represented by another? To be "in Adam" or to be "in Christ" has far reaching connections to our understanding of man, sin, salvation, and evangelism, just to name a few. There is great value in understanding our condition and how God has saved us. This understanding affects every area of life.

This Sunday we will begin a study called convert that seeks to look at our once lost condition in Adam and our new nature in Christ. From what have we been saved? To what extent have we been saved? For what purpose are we saved? What should the new man look like? Have we arrived when we profess Christ as our Savior? If not, do we continue to change or is there a one time transformation? What are the benefits of this understanding?

I hope you will join me starting Sunday, January 3, at 9:30a as we delve into these questions on our journey towards conformity to Christ.
